Megan Van Horne

Associate Principal Horn

With RMSO since season 1

Megan began music lessons at a young age, beginning with piano and eventually making the switch to horn in high school. She graduated with her BMus in Performance in 2017 from the University of Calgary where she studied with Laurie Matiation. In addition to the RMSO, Megan can be heard playing regularly with Alberta Winds and the Calgary Civic Symphony, where she has been Principal Horn since 2022.

In 2018, Megan became a Reservist in the Royal Canadian Navy where she is a member of the HMCS Tecumseh Band and the National Band of the Naval Reserve, performing across the country. She plays in both the concert band and the jazz combo, where she is developing her skills on electric bass.

Megan is grateful to be able to perform so much fun repertoire in communities all around southern Alberta with the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra, and looks forward to many more seasons with her talented colleagues!
