Glen Montgomery made his professional debut at the age of 16 with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Since then he has led a busy musical life, performing from Iceland to Japan and throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia. Other orchestra appearances have been with the symphonies of Calgary, Edmonton, CBC, Winnipeg, Toronto, La Jolla (San Diego) and Cincinnati. Glen Montgomery has recorded more than 50 broadcasts for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, for both radio and television. As a youth he distinguished himself by playing Mozart concerti on both piano and clarinet and later by touring England and Scotland as soloist with the Youth Orchestra of Calgary. After tremendous success in his teens as a soloist (piano), Glen Montgomery chose to broaden his life and musical experience by teaching, travelling, vocal and instrumental coaching (as faculty instructor in the Advanced Training Program at the Banff School of Fine Arts), forming his own piano trio, and by composing. Glen Montgomery is highly respected as a chamber musician and accompanist, having concertized and recorded with such artists as Lynn Harrell, Carol Neblett, Allan Monk, Nina Beilina, Paul Brodie, and John de Lancie. Glen Montgomery’s teachers have been Pierrette Lepage, John Duval, Guido Agosti and Gyorgy Sebok. He has been sponsored by the Canada Council, Alberta Culture, and the Performing Arts Foundation of Alberta, and has been a winner of top prizes in several international competitions.
